LYDIAH introduced herself with stunning debut single ‘Holding Back’ in May 2020.
LYDIAH is an alternative-folk artist from Liverpool who carries her uniquely soulful vocal with vivid, poetic lyrics. Through her atmospheric and captivating performances, her music draws you in to a world full of complex characters and dark stories.
‘Holding Back’ was produced and mixed by Loic Gaillard at the Motor Museum and mastered by Mike Cave. The track is accompanied by the amazing photography of Robin Clewley.
LYDIAH is known across Liverpool’s live music scene for supporting high profile touring artists alongside promoting her own shows – including a music event in aid of MIND featuring XAMVOLO.
Since winning the Judges Award in the Liverpool Acoustic Songwriting Competition in 2017, LYDIAH has been selected for a number of artist development opportunities. In 2019 she took part in the Levi’s music project in collaboration with Warner Music and artist mentor Loyle Carner. This involved a six month programme with a finale that saw her perform on the main stage at Liverpool’s Soundcity Festival.
She then took part in Merseyrail Soundstation, a programme put together by Liverpool music magazine Bido Lito! LYDIAH also joined the LIMF (Liverpool International Music Festival) Academy Elite for 2019/2020, one of three artists selected as “most ready”. She has relished these rich opportunities and is incredibly excited to start releasing her music to a wider audience.
‘Holding Back’ was performed live in session on BBC Radio Merseyside’s Introducing show towards the end of 2019. Since then LYDIAH has been contemplating the release of her debut single, and what that should be. She is growing her sound and building the world she wants to create around her music, transitioning from acoustic to electric guitar. ‘Holding Back’, recorded with an acoustic guitar, marks the beginning of her journey.
LYDIAH not only pulls from her own experiences in her songs, but also finds influence (pretty much daily) from life around her. She is a very driven artist and prolific songwriter, self-releasing this debut single through AWAL.
