mostdeffo is a music management company launched in Liverpool in October 2018. Ultimately, mostdeffo has been created by Cath Hurley to manage artists but it was also launched to be an additional resource and positive voice providing industry support to the existing music organisations based in the region along with working directly with emerging bands and artists helping them on the right path. Since the formation of FUTURE YARD CIC, we now have a physical hub to support new artists/bands professionalise and grow. This means that mostdeffo now exists as a boutique artist management company and all other activity will be done through FUTURE YARD.
If you are a band/artist looking for support and guidance, sign up HERE to be first in the know when FUTURE YARD’s comprehensive artist-facing offer launches.
mostdeffo is proud to work with organisations such as FUTURE YARD CIC, Merseyrail Soundstation, PRS Foundation and Launchpad/Music:Leeds.
About Cath Hurley:
For a number of years Cath worked in Online PR, Digital Marketing and Social Media Management for an extremely varied roster from brand new acts through to established artists, such as Ellie Goulding and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Her work with new bands and artists often focused on helping them get the attention of labels and to build their fanbase. She would often be the first industry professional working with the band and would build their release strategy.
She then moved on to become Product Manager at Rough Trade Records, leading on the releases for the likes of Parquet Courts, SOAK and Girl Band. This involved overseeing all elements of album releases and working closely with acts to realise their vision.
She moved to Liverpool in 2016 and spent two years leading on the marketing for a number of organisations in the wider arts before setting up mostdeffo. Since 2016 she has taught music business at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) as a part time member of their music team and is also a guest lecturer at the University of Liverpool.
Cath is also the Community Manager at a brand new music venue in Birkenhead, called FUTURE YARD. Along with the FUTURE YARD team, she is currently delivering and developing an industry skills programme called SOUND CHECK, which provides an introduction to careers in the live music industry. She is also, alongside the team, developing an artist membership offer which will involve mentoring and artist development opportunities.
Cath is a member of the Liverpool City Region Music Board.
